69th Annual Scientific Meeting Opens Dec. 11 in New York

The Society of Cosmetic Chemists 69th annual scientific meeting and technology showcase comes to New York City’s Hilton Hotel & Towers this month.
Here is a look at the presentations that will be made during the opening general session on Dec. 11:

• “Innovations and Emerging Trends,” moderated by Akshay Talati— Proteasomal Enhancement: An Innovative Well-Aging Strategy, Dominik Stuhlmann, Ph.D. Symrise SAS; Stimulation of Klotho and AMPK Activity to Mimic Caloric Restriction-Induced Anti-Aging Activity in Skin, Fred Zuelli, Ph.D., Mibelle Biochemistry; Fighting Against Chronic Emotional Stress-Induced Fat Accumulation, Jean-Francois Nicolay, Ph.D. Exsymol; and Targeting Outer Root Sheath Stem Cells and Dermal Papilla Fibroblasts to Reactivate the Hair Cycle, Fabrice LeFevre, Ph.D., Induchem Inc. USA.

The concurrent afternoon sessions on Dec 11 are:

• “You Can’t Do That! • “Practical Formulations,” moderated by Dennis Laba, Presperse Corporation—The HLB System: A Time-Saving Guide to Emulsifier Selection, Abhijit Bidaye, Croda Inc.; Formulating Anhydrous Sunscreen Products that Applies Clear on Skin that Is Wet, Hani Fares, Ph.D., Ashland Specialty Ingredients; Formulating Low pH Topical Skin Care Formulations for Stability and Performance, Peter Konish, Neostrata; Simplified Formulating Is Just a Few Clicks Away!, Laura Szymczak-Frye, Lonza Consumer Care; and Fragrance: The Most Chemically Complex Additive to Cosmetic Formulations, Sarah Twomey, The Lebermuth Company.

The Suppliers’ Cocktail Reception will be held on Dec. 11 from 4:30-6:30pm in the Trianon Ballroom, with food, beverages and live music by the Chemtones, followed by a DJ.

The sessions scheduled for Dec. 12 are:

Entrance to the SCC Technology Showcase is free, however pre-registration will be required for anyone not registering for the annual meeting.
